Alfred Hitchcock - Psycho
This is my favourite film from Alfred Hitchcock, the suspense and intensity is undeniable intreaguing.
We researched his methods to find out how Alfred Hitchcock created suspense, and the effects he used to lead up to it. I believe this helped our understanding of how to create suspense. Here are just a few techniques he used:
- showing the audience what the characters dont see
- point of view editing
- zoom in on facial expressions
- dialogue means nothing when it comes to creating tension
- characters must break the cliche
- use of humour adds to tension
- two things happening at once quickens pace and heightens tension
- suprise and twist
